Nike Joyride
Nike, Inc. | TREW Special Effects
To showcase the new Nike Joyride shoe, I collaborated with a Special FX team to create whimsical motorized faux-manufacturing displays to demonstrate the resilience of the various Joyride shoe components. We designed and built several mechanical tubes, one that compressed large Joyride spheres and required creative problem-solving to get the pistons working properly due to the amount of friction that was created, and another with an air-powered feature that had to be negatively-charged to prevent the smaller spheres from clumping due to static electricity. The mechanical displays ran on a series of pneumatic pistons and valves that added an audible industrial experience.
