Nike Loom

Nike, Inc.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Nike 650 Fifth Avenue NYC flagship store, I worked with a team of Nike designers to bring their vision of a bespoke aluminum kinetic “loom” to life. The goal was to create a sculpture that could run for 6-12 months. The final design involved hundreds of hours of metal craftsmanship combined with exaggerated mechanical automation such as oversized gears and giant spools of thread, all interwoven with a central rotating LED display unit featuring a showcased shoe. The “loom” performed as designed and ran with minimal servicing throughout its lifecycle.
