To showcase the new Samsung Galaxy S9 phone at their NYC flagship store, we created an interactive parabolic display made from 150 Galaxy phones. Our design enabled an average shopper to step into the display and experience a 360 degree view of a chosen city by rotating the multi-phone “screen” on a circular track. I designed and engineered a frictionless bearing system that allowed the sliding 400 lb door system to effortlessly rotate on the track using integrated handles. Incorporating ventilation into the system and ensuring the data cables and phone chargers were installed cleanly while also hidden from view was a challenge that required further creative design solutions.
