Kyrie x Nike Boston
Nike, Inc. | Kyrie Irving
The challenge was to rig a chandelier-like display of an “exploded” basketball court across the multi-floor atrium of the Nike Boston flagship store. In order to achieve a believable “exploded” look, I created a giant scaffolding structure in the shop to mimic the atrium interior, which was used to compose the rigging and angles of the floorboards to match the provided renderings. As a creative solution to both the tall space and the short installation timeline, I pre-rigged the floorboards in segments. These segments were later brought onsite, where everything (including a Kyrie mannequin) was rigged together using a 40’ scissor lift. The exploded floorboard chandelier also had multiple LED elements that were integrated onsite by hiding power supplies within the ceiling.
