Reddymade | The Smithsonian Institution
Concept design by Suchi Reddy, industrial design/ fabrication/ installation by Troy Peeples, technology by AWS, programming by Hovercraft, lighting hardware by Reveal Lighting Group, built by Bednark Studio, for the Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building 175th anniversary “Futures” exhibition. This interactive sculpture was installed in the rotunda of the historic Arts and Industries building at the Smithsonian. It invites the public to speak their vision of the future into an array of sensors that takes audio input and projects a visual LED display. The sculpture consist of thousands of 1/2” diameter plexiglass rods, that serve as light conductors for an LED diode array built in the sculpture’s base. The upper part of the sculpture was built using addressable LED panels, diffused by handmade traditional Japanese washi paper.
